Does it actually make a significant improvement with shadows casted by mountains in loaded cells? I can't tell you either as I'm spending more time playing than rigorously checking these kinds of details these days. Can't say I've noticed it in the ~2 months I've been using it.

In fact the shield was underground until I jumped or crossed some rough terrain - It seems to be attached to my feet when stored. Even back when I started a month or two ago and didnt have as many mods, magic would sometimes freeze my game. Then today, I switched to 3rd person and noticed that my sword was on my hip and the shield wasn't on my back. I had to have Warburgs Paper Map, Spinning Arrows and Breezehome Fully Upgrade-able.
