They released their fourth album "No Code" on August 27, 1996, exactly five years after "Ten". Over the next few years, Pearl Jam's popularity began to decline. They announced his replacement to be Jack Irons. The band fired Dave Abbruzzese due to artistic differences. Their third album would be released in 1994 and sold 877,000 copies in its first week. Their second album "Vs." was released in 1993 and sold 950,000 copies in its first week, setting an all time record for copies sold in one week. It included the hits "Alive", "Even Flow", and "Jeremy". Pearl Jam released their debut album "Ten" in 1991, and went platinum 12 times over the years. Chamberlain would leave the band to play for Saturday Night Live, but suggested Dave Abbruzzese. Krusen would quit the band before their debut album was launched, and was replaced by Matt Chamberlain. They recruited Eddie Vedder, who was given a demo by former Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Jack Irons, on lead vocals and Dave Krusen on drums. Over the next few years, Pearl Jam's Pearl Jam was formed by Stone Gossard, Mike McCready, and Jeff Ament in 1990.
